Crafts
You may or may not know this but Wirral has a very strong traditional crafts heritage, particularly in terms of the world renowned Lees Tapestry Works and Della Robbia Pottery. Blacksmithing, pottery, stonemasonry, jewellery making, heritage crafts, basketwork, stitching and needlework are all currently practised by amateur and an increasing number of professionals, alike. Crafts are becoming increasingly popular with many courses being run by schools, colleges, community groups and organisations such as Voirrey Embroidery and CaJoBah. Craft fairs are also an opportunity to keep up with what's being produced by local craftspeople. The list of crafts is not definitive so this page will develop into an information point with links for applied and decorative crafts, craftspeople, groups, galleries and courses. Thatching is a traditional craft but I don't think that we have a Thatcher based in the borough of Wirral - let us know if we're wrong!
